I was listening to you talk this am on radio 1, you spoke of a special place in your heart is something on an island in enniskillen. My daughter just moved to live there recently and we visit her lots and are always looking for interesting places to go to. Could you let me know what you said about this island and whats it called as i missed that bit of your interview believe it or not and just caught the end of your sentence about it. Thanks a million.
Hi,
Belle Isle – the island has self-catering accommodation, aswell as a cookery school which could make a great day out. It’s very peaceful, you can take a boat on the lake and fish or just walk about. The couple running it are lovely. Belle Isle – the website is: http://www.belle-isle.com/
I did Fermanagh in quite a bit of detail in the book so if you check it out you should get plenty of ideas and also in the surrounding areas there is so much to see – great for day trips.

Limerick is a county that tourists travel through.
What interestings sights and sounds are in County Limerick for children and adults.
John
Hi John,
There’s plenty for people to do in Limerick. In the city King John’s Castle is a great way to spend a couple of hours and then head to the Milk Market to explore the stalls of food, crafts and what not. Outside Limerick Lough Gur is a must see. There are scattered ancient sites around the lake with a number of good walking trails leading to the different sites, some of which date back to 2200BC. Best to drop in to the heritage centre and get details on the different sites before heading off. Adare is lovely also, as there are plenty of places to eat and a nearby castle and a park.
Enjoy!

Its been promisied to her for some time and her confirmation money is sitting nicely away in the bank! Could you give me some hints and tips. Read your article with the mention of tea at the savoy so hope to includ that in. Any advice etc you could give would be most gratefull espically in relation to my twelve year old shopping etc etc Im not really a shopping person myself. I love London and the romance of it. Have been there a couple of times with my husband over the years but this is just the two of us girls and would like to seem like I know what Im doing and impres her.
many thanks
Wendy
Dear Wendy,
Thanks for getting in touch and I’m glad you are enjoying my travel tips. There is so much to do in London, it’s a matter of choosing what your daughter most enjoys doing.
For shopping I would say she would love Regents Street and Oxford Street where TopShop, H&M, Mango and lots of other shops are. Covent Garden is also a great place to shop as it’s smaller and there are still lots of shops there. There are street performers and also nice restaurants and cafes where you can hide away from the crowds!
There is also a Abercrombie and Fitch off Regents Street which is hilarious to go in to as all the staff are young and dance to very loud music! You definitely have to go to a show, I loved Wicked it is just brilliant!
London Zoo is quite amazing and it’s in Regents Park which makes for a lovely afternoon picnic and down the road from here is Madame Tussauds which I’m sure she’d love. I also love the Natural History Musuem and there are giant dinosaur skeletons which children and adults love!
Of course if you go to The Savoy for afternoon tea, pop across the river to London Eye, the view is incredible.
I hope you have a wonderful time and if you need any other information let me know!
