Ski, Shopping & Sunshine in the US
This morning I had to get up super early, although my deranged kitten and a wailing fox ensured I was awake several hours before my 5am alarm bell. Out to Dublin Airport, Terminal 2 where TV3 were filming live all morning. I got to talk about sunshine and theme parks in Orlando, ski in Vancouver, dog-sledding in Toronto and shopping in Chicago. A busy morning, I’m sure you’ll agree.
Reasons to go to America this year
Sun & Fun New to Orlando is Legoland. Yes, you can enter a world made of coloured pieces of magic and spend the day creating your own cars, planes and trains. I’m pretty sure nobody ever tires of lego.
Top Tips: Pick up a magicard In Orlando as it gives you 20% discount on lots of things and as we all know, every penny counts these days. If you are there for a few days it’s worth buying a card giving you access to all the parks. Rumour has it Virgin offer the best deal, with great perks like early access to parks and breakfast in the Wizarding World of Harry Pottter.
Winter Sports Canadians embrace the cold winter with enthusiasm and have come up with whacky sports to keep you entertained and warm. Head to Toronto and try snowshoeing, dog-sledding and then curl up in front of a fire in a wooden cabin.
Top Tips: Fresh Tracks Canada can arrange all of this and more for you! Go ice-skating at the harbour front as you get amazing views over Lake Ontario and then shop in The Path – a labyrinth of underground shops.
Shopping Shopaholics shouldn’t miss out on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. Shop till you drop and then check out one of the fab restaurants. If you like jazz then drop into one of the atmospheric bars, where someone is always singing the blues, you’ll think you dropped into New Orleans!
Top Tips: Go up the John Hancock building and enjoy the view whilst sipping a glass of wine. Experience the great food in the city by doing a Food Tour, just don’t eat beforehand!
