The Sunny South-East – Co. Wexford
Having spent much of my childhood summers in a caravan near Gorey, Co. Wexford, my memories are of long stretches of sandy beaches, bustling towns and BBQ’s. While I know the coastline from Wicklow down as far as Rosslare pretty well, when I was writing the Time Out Guide I had to explore the southern part of the county. An Adventure In South Africa
South Africa has become a popular destination for the Irish with the promise of sunshine, beaches, vineyards and sightings of the Big 5 (lion, buffalo, hippo, rhino, elephant). The most common route is to fly into the cosmopolitan Capetown, venture along the spectacular Garden Route and do a safari in one of the private reserves on the south-east coast. Read more
Travelling Solo
I’m not sure what made me decide to do it, but one day I decided to quit my very stable and well-paid job, pack my bags and travel Asia on my own for four months. I wanted to see more of the world at my own pace, to my own agenda and write all about it. Within 6 weeks of making my decision, I was on a plane to Vietnam with nothing more than a guide book to South-East Asia, a new camera, a pad and pen and a vague idea of where I wanted to go.
Travelling with Mark Cagney
