It seems to be the buzz word of the summer – The Wild Atlantic Way. I’ve heard it on the radio and TV, read about it in the papers and have been talking about it myself. Of course, it’s not like this is something ‘new’. The Wild Atlantic Way is simply the stunning, wild and rugged west coastline of Ireland.

Artists, poets and writers have been inspired by the coastline for centuries. The wildness of our west captures the hearts and imaginations of those that visit and it’s no wonder; long deserted stretches of white, sandy beaches, towering sea cliffs, colourful coastal villages, wild gorse covered mountains.

The Wild Atlantic Way is drawing our attention back to the beauty of the west, signposts and ‘Discovery points’ making it easier to navigate and discover some hidden treasures.

Tomorrow on Ireland AM we will be over in Galway and I’ll be chatting about some of the highlights, festivals and places not to be missed along this rugged coastline. Tune in at 8.35am on TV3!

In the meantime, check out some of my favourite spots:

Donegal

Sligo

Mayo

Enjoy!
