Ireland’s Christmas Markets 2014
In the past few years, Ireland’s cities and towns have given over squares, docklands or whatever patch of land they can find, to small wooden cabins decorated with twinkling fairy lights, glistening tinsel and glass baubles.
November sees the arrival of the Christmas Markets with stalls stacked with handcrafted toys, Christmas tree decorations and tasty snacks. Not to mention the steaming cups of mulled wine, carol singers and oversized Christmas trees. Wrap up warm and prepare for Christmas joy, because there’s only a couple of weeks before they start. Below are just a few Christmas Markets around the country.
Winterval, Waterford 21 November – 23 December 2014
3rd year on the trot, Winterval in Waterford is the largest winter carnival in the country. The whole city will be taken over by Christmas markets, gardens and all venues in the city will be taking part. There will be a series of over 32 events – free and ticketed throughout the city during the time of the festival with lots going on for families and adults.

- Christmas Markets – over 60 wooden cabins decked out with all things Christmasy!

Galway Continental Market 21st November – 22 December 2014
It’s got to be said, Galway does festivals well, very well and the Christmas Market is no exception. Stalls, lights, hot chocolate, local artisan goodies and entertainment to get even the most cynical into the Christmas spirit!
Cork Christmas Markets 28th November – 21st December 2014
Grand Parade is taken over in the run up to Christmas over the weekends with food and craft stalls, while Bishop Lucey Park is taken over by a ‘Rockin Robin’ themed illumination, creating a festive fantasy land for children, including a secret santa’s grotto.
